THE LEASING OF THE PORT OF SÃO SEBASTIÃO IS EXPECTED TO UNDERGO CONSULTATION AND PUBLIC HEARING NEXT MONTH.

In June, a consultation and public hearing will be conducted concerning the leasing project at the Port of São Sebastião, aimed at expanding port capacity and investments for new cargoes. Currently administered by the São Sebastião Port Authority, the port achieved a record-breaking cargo movement last year, surpassing 1 million tons and increasing revenue by 51%. The expansion plans are strategic due to the port’s geographic advantages, yet consider environmental impacts. Expansion will involve new berths to accommodate deep-draft vessels and boost regional and international navigation. Felipe Santana, the President of COMPORTO, highlights the potential for new business opportunities, job creation, and increased revenue for the region. The leasing auction is expected in the first half of 2025, with maritime expansions likely starting around mid-2027, according to the Ministry of Ports and Airports.
