SUGAR AND HYDROUS ETHANOL PRODUCTION GROWS IN BRAZIL’S NORTH AND NORTHEAST REGIONS

The sugarcane harvest in the North and Northeast regions of 2023-2024 has been promising. The production of sugar and hydrous ethanol has increased significantly, with sugar production growing by 12.4% to 3.22 million tons, and hydrous ethanol growing by 12.3% to 1.05 billion liters, until February 29. The sugarcane crushing also increased by 4.7%, reaching 55.24 million tons, compared to the previous year. However, anhydrous ethanol production saw a small decrease of 8.9%. When compared to the same period of the previous harvest, the physical stock of total ethanol decreased by 17.13%.
