“STRENGTHENING RURAL INSURANCE IS A PRIORITY FOR THE 2024/25 SAFRA PLAN,” SAYS CNA.

The Brazilian Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock (CNA) highlighted the increase in the budget for the Rural Insurance Premium Subsidy Program (PSR) as a priority in the 2024/25 Agricultural Plan, requesting an additional R$ 2.1 billion in 2024, raising the total to R$ 3 billion by December and R$ 4 billion in 2025. The CNA emphasized the importance of agricultural insurance amid climatic adversities and high costs, stating that the lack of resources compromises farmers’ financial security. Additionally, it proposed changes to Proagro to protect producers with projects above R$ 270,000. The entity advocates for improvements in risk management and remuneration for Proagro inspectors.
