SOIL MOISTURE IS FAVORABLE FOR SECOND CROP IN BRAZIL, CONAB SAYS

Between April 1 and April 21, Brazil’s primary producing regions experienced low precipitation rates that aided the first crops. Soil moisture has generally been favorable for the growth of the second crop. The heaviest rain fell in the Northeast region’s extreme north and in the North region, which damaged some of the soybean harvests but benefited grains-filling crops. However, less rain fell in areas of Bahia, Minas Gerais, and Rio Grande do Sul, which limited the growth of the second crops of corn and beans. In Rio Grande do Sul, the lack of rain enhanced the maturation and harvest of soybean crops.
