DERAL INCREASES FORECAST OF PARANA’S SOYBEAN CROP

The Deral (Department of Rural Economy) points out that the 2022–23 soybean crop in Paraná is expected to reach a record 22.37 million tons, up by 200,000 tons from the forecast released last month. Deral predicts an increase of 83% over the previous season when the drought had a negative impact on crops. After a season of slower planting, the Paraná Secretariat of Agriculture reduced the forecast for the second corn crop from 14.7 million tons to 14.4 million tons. If the prediction confirms, the harvest will still increase by 8% year-on-year, despite the reduction of 9% in the planted area, with improved yields.
