BRAZIL’S CENTER-SOUTH TO CRUSH OVER 593 MILLION TONS OF CANE IN 2023/24

The 2023/24 harvest in the center-south of Brazil, which began this month, is expected to crush between 593 and 595 million tons of sugarcane, according to Canaplan. Sugar production is expected to reach over 36 million tons in the cycle. The production of ethanol from sugarcane was estimated between 25.7 billion liters and 25.8 billion liters in the period. A total of 6.2 billion liters of corn ethanol are also expected. In 2022–2023, the mills converted 548.28 million tons of sugarcane into 33.73 million tons of sugar, and 28.91 billion liters of ethanol were produced from corn and sugarcane.
