RIO GRANDE PORT MOVES 38.2 MILLION TONS UNTIL NOVEMBER

The Rio Grande Port moved in 11 months 38.2 million tons, being at least 14.3 million tons of soy. In a note, the port management says China was the main destination, with 59.6% of exports of soybeans, pulp, wood chips, wood and glycerin.
The ports of Pelotas and Porto Alegre have good movements in the year 2019: until November Pelotas had 990.9 thousand tons while Porto Alegre handled 996.1 thousand tons, growth of about 10% compared to the whole year 2018. According to port administration, the consolidated data for 2019 should be known by 15 January.
For 2020 the State assesses a tax equalization for certain imports in order to increase competitiveness. “In 2020, these issues will be addressed, as well as defense by the waterway, which is one of the great differentials of the state in terms of logistics,” says the note.
