RIO GRANDE DO SUL’S CORN HARVEST COULD EXCEED 5 MILLION TONS, SAYS STONEX

Even with the losses already consolidated in corn crops planted early due to high humidity, the Rio Grande do Sul corn harvest could exceed 5 million tons in 2023/24, according to StoneX consultant Silvia Bampi. The projection is 34.4% higher than the previous harvest and 55% higher than 2021/22. The outlook focuses on supply-demand balance, with growing demand from ethanol and animal feed industries. Bampi also predicts a reduction in imports and launches a prediction model for the corn leafhopper, a tool to aid crop management.
