RIO GRANDE DO SUL PORTS REPORT STRONG GROWTH IN JANUARY CARGO THROUGHPUT

In January, Rio Grande do Sul’s public ports handled 3,312,520 tonnes, with Rio Grande port leading at 3,153,062 tonnes, a 4.56% increase from last year. Pelotas Port contributed 91,595 tonnes, and Porto Alegre Port had 67,863 tonnes. Solid bulk cargo dominated at 2,103,863 tonnes, followed by general cargo and liquid bulk. Year-on-year growth reached 4.88%, with Porto Alegre Port notably increasing from 39,838 to 67,683 tonnes. The ports welcomed 310 vessels, highlighting the vital role of maritime transportation in Rio Grande do Sul’s economy.
