PORT OF SÃO SEBASTIÃO SETS HISTORIC RECORD WITH 1.5 MILLION TONS HANDLED IN 2024

The Port of São Sebastião set a record in 2024, handling 1.5 million tons, a 47% increase from 2023. Bulk sugar was the top cargo (498.5 thousand tons), followed by soda ash, petroleum coke, malt, and barley. Growth was driven by expanded storage areas and sustainability initiatives, including discounts for energy-efficient vessels. In 2025, the port will be privatized under a federal plan to auction 58 terminals, with R$656 million earmarked for modernization. The goal is to boost capacity to 4.3 million tons annually and expand berthing infrastructure. São Paulo’s government aims to position it as a key logistics hub.
