PORT OF SANTOS: ARRIVAL OF ECO-FRIENDLY CRANES AND RTGS

Santos Brasil advances towards decarbonization with the arrival of ten electric cranes, comprising two ship-to-shore cranes and eight e-RTGs, at the port of Santos. Aligned with a low-carbon economy, these equipment are part of initiatives to make the company carbon neutral by 2040. As part of the modernization project for Tecon Santos, the container terminal will receive approximately R$ 2.6 billion in investments until 2031. With an investment of $45 million, the electric fleet includes quay and yard cranes, contributing to a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The total electrification of yard cranes will result in a 97% reduction in emissions from these equipment at the terminal. It is projected that the new equipment will be operational in the first quarter of 2024.
