DROUGHT IN THE AMAZON FUELS RECORD-BREAKING OPERATIONS AT PECÉM AMID SOARING GLOBAL DEMAND

APM Terminals, operator of the Pecém Port Complex, set a record by handling 55,000 TEUs in October, driven by the growing demand from the United States and Europe, as well as the drought in the Amazon region, which diverted some of the traffic to the Port of Pecém. The 11% growth in movements from January to October 2023, compared to the same period the previous year, underscores the crucial role of the port in the global scenario. Committed to decarbonization, the company invested R$ 150 million in new equipment, including state-of-the-art cranes. The expansion in long-haul navigation and the strategic location reinforce Pecém’s position as a vital hub.
