PORT OF PECÉM ACHIEVES RECORD STEEL PLATES THROUGHPUT IN 2023

The Port of Pecém achieved a record throughput of steel plates in 2023, with 2,974,252 tonnes shipped on 81 vessels, surpassing the previous best in 2018. This milestone was reached on December 30, as two ships, Spar Pyxis and Iraklis, were loaded for the United States. The record result was attributed to investments in new equipment and the collaborative efforts of the Pecém Complex and ArcelorMittal Pecém team. The use of new cranes and dedication led to surpassing the 2018 record. The Port of Pecém, known for handling various cargo types, anticipates further growth in 2024, targeting an excess of 3 million tons of steel plates.
