MATO GROSSO POSTS CORN HARVEST PROGRESS ABOVE YEAR-AGO PACE

Corn harvesting in Mato Grosso reached 5.85% of planted area, up 3.91 percentage points from the previous week, according to Imea. The pace is ahead of the 2.66% recorded a year earlier, though still below the historical average of 6.8% for the period. Earlier this week, Imea raised its state corn crop estimate by 1.3% to 53.35 million tonnes. As harvesting gains momentum, corn prices remain under pressure across most Brazilian producing regions. The Cepea benchmark fell to its lowest nominal level in eight months this week amid expectations of larger supply.
