BRAZIL CORN HARVEST HITS 4.4% OF CENTER-SOUTH AREA AS MATO GROSSO LEADS PACE

Brazil’s 2026 second corn crop harvest reached 4.4% of planted area in the Center-South as of June 4, up from 2.4% a week earlier and 1.9% a year ago, according to AgRural. Harvest activity remains concentrated in Mato Grosso, while high moisture continues to slow fieldwork in Paraná. Mato Grosso do Sul has started harvesting in isolated areas. AgRural trimmed its 2026 second crop corn estimate by 900,000 tonnes to 108.2 million tonnes after drought-related losses in Goiás, Minas Gerais and São Paulo. Strong yield prospects in other Center-South states, particularly Mato Grosso, offset part of the decline. Brazil’s total corn output for the 2025/26 season is projected at 139.9 million tonnes.
