The Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea) reported that 51.05% of the 2024/25 corn crop in the state has been sold, with a 7.35 percentage point increase in May—14.88 points ahead of the same period last year. The pace was slowed by a 6.88% drop in average prices, down to R$44.43 per sack. For the 2025/26 crop, sales reached 5.83% of estimated production, up 2 points from April but still 9.21 points below the five-year average. According to Imea, low prices and producers’ focus on harvesting and selling the 2024/25 crop explain the limited sales, most of which were barter deals tied to input purchases for the next cycle.
