IBGE EXPECTS A RECORD HARVEST IN 2022

The September 2022 forecast production level of cereal, legumes, and oilseeds will exceed the previous forecast and reach 261.9 million tons, up 3.4% from 2021. The area to be harvested is expected to reach 73.2 million hectares, up 6.8% over 2021 and 0.2% higher than the previous forecast. The three main commodities of this group are rice, corn, and soybeans. Together, they represent 91.5% of the estimated production, accounting for 87.1% of the area to be harvested. When compared to 2021, the area planted with corn increased by10.4% (up 6.8% in the first corn crop and up 11.7% in the second one). There was also an increase of 17.8% in herbaceous cotton (seed), soybean increased by 4.9%, and wheat by 9,2%.
