GOIÁS IS EXPECTED TO CRUSH 79 MILLION TONS OF SUGARCANE IN THE 2024/25 HARVEST, SCA PROJECTS

SCA Brasil projects a favorable outlook for sugarcane production in Goiás in the 2024/25 harvest, estimating a record crush of 79 million tons compared to 76 million tons in the previous cycle. This increase is attributed to significant investments in expanding and renewing sugarcane fields. Sugar manufacturing is also expected to rise from 26% to 32%. CEO Martinho Seiiti Ono highlights Goiás as likely the sole Brazilian state with increased sugarcane production. Recent rains aid in field recovery. Ono foresees a billion liters of corn ethanol production and optimistic export prospects, particularly to the North and Northeast during the off-season. Concerns were raised about distributors’ compliance with RenovaBio targets and Petrobras’ pricing policy’s impact on ethanol competitiveness.
