GOIAS BREAKS RECORD IN SUGARCANE PRODUCTION AND BECOMES BRAZIL’S SECOND-LARGEST PRODUCER

Over the last ten years, Goiás has recorded growth above the national average in Brazil’s sugar-energy sector. Productivity in the state’s sugarcane fields also advanced more than the national average, rising 10.7% compared to 3.5% nationwide. Goiás reached second place in Brazil’s national sugarcane production ranking and posted its largest harvest of the last decade, according to data from the 4th survey of the 2025/26 crop by the National Supply Company (Conab). The state is expected to produce 80.1 million metric tons this season, a result 2% higher than the previous crop cycle. The increase was driven by an expansion in planted area, which grew 6.3% and surpassed 1 million hectares under cultivation. Performance was also supported using technology in the fields, improvements in agricultural management, and greater production efficiency.
