FIESC ALERTS TO THE CRITICAL SITUATION OF SANTA CATARINA PORTS

FIESC alerted to the critical situation of Santa Catarina ports in a letter sent to the Vice President and Minister of Industry and Commerce, requesting an emergency meeting with ANTAQ and the Ministry of Ports. Problems highlighted include the closure of the Barra do Rio Itajaí-Açu canal, the shutdown of the Itajaí port, ongoing construction at the Navegantes and Itapoá ports, and the standard operation of the MAPA. This has led to increased freight and storage costs, affecting foreign trade operations. FIESC emphasized the need for immediate solutions to avoid damage to Brazil’s international image and competitiveness in the global market.
