FERTILIZER DELIVERIES SURPASS 9 MILLION TONNES IN THE FIRST QUARTER

Brazilian fertilizer deliveries reached 9.76 million tonnes in Q1 2026, up 3.8% year on year, according to ANDA. March deliveries totaled 2.83 million tonnes, an 18.7% increase from a year earlier. Mato Grosso remained the largest consumer, accounting for 2.45 million tonnes, or 25.2% of national volumes. Domestic production of intermediate fertilizers fell 16.2% in Q1 to 1.41 million tonnes, while March output declined 9.7% to 483,000 tonnes. ANDA noted data collection challenges linked to corporate ownership changes and production restarts. Imports reached 8.15 million tonnes in the quarter, down 4% from Q1 2025, although March imports rose 10.1% year on year to 2.74 million tonnes. At Paranaguá, Brazil’s main fertilizer import gateway, throughput totaled 2.12 million tonnes in Q1, down 13.5%, representing 26.1% of all fertilizer imports handled by Brazilian ports.
