CEPEA: DESPITE HIGHER TARIFFS, AGRIBUSINESS REVENUE GROWS IN EARLY 2025

Despite rising U.S. import tariffs, Brazilian agribusiness showed resilience, with export revenue growing 1.6% in the first four months of 2025 to USD 52.8 billion. The increase was driven by a 5.3% rise in average dollar prices, offsetting a 3.5% drop in shipment volume. Beef, pork, poultry, pulp, and cotton saw the largest volume gains, while coffee and orange juice benefited from strong price increases. China remained the main export destination but saw a slight decline in share, while Europe, the U.S., the Middle East, and Southeast Asia expanded their participation. Despite trade uncertainties with the U.S., strong grain harvests and tariff-free access to markets like China sustain positive expectations.
