NEW E-METHANOL PLANT TO INVEST BRL 2 BILLION AT SUAPE PORT

Pernambuco Governor Raquel Lyra signed a BRL 2 billion contract with GoVerde Holding S.A. to install an e-methanol plant in the Suape Industrial Port Complex, aiming to boost green hydrogen-based fuel production. The project, set to start construction in 2026, will occupy up to 20 hectares and generate 1,500 jobs. With production starting between 2027–2028, the plant will initially produce 300 tons of e-methanol per day, reaching 900 tons by 2032. The fuel targets exports to Europe and North America, especially for maritime and aviation industries. The initiative, backed by Suape’s strategic location and renewable resources, marks a key step in Brazil’s role in global decarbonization. E-methanol, made using green hydrogen and biogenic CO₂, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) offer major carbon emission reductions. The 12-year renewable lease emphasizes Pernambuco’s commitment to a sustainable, low-carbon economy.
