Brazil’s 2025/26 sugar harvest is projected to be large, despite a slow start, and is expected to contribute to a global sugar surplus of 1.53 million tonnes, according to consultancy Datagro. Plínio Nastari, Datagro’s president, stated that rainfall between October and April in the Center-South region—Brazil’s main sugar-producing area—was among the best in the past five years, helping to restore soil moisture and support strong crop development.
