BRAZIL’S PARANÁ PORTS REGISTER RECORD THROUGHPUT IN FEBRUARY

In February 2024, Portos do Paraná, managing ports in Paraná state, achieved a record handling 5,350,437 tonnes, a 5% increase from February 2022. CEO Luiz Fernando Garcia attributed this to backlog from the previous year, foreseeing continued high throughput. Soybean and sugar exports notably surged by 172% and 123%, respectively. Imports of fertilizers also rose by 15%. January saw a 20% increase over the previous year, totaling 5,064,683 tons. Records indicate a significant growth trend, with 10.4 million tons handled in January and February combined. Revenues from foreign markets in January 2024 reached US$1.82 billion, up 29.2% from the previous year.
