RUMO, DPW TO BUILD A R$2.5BN TERMINAL IN SANTOS

Rumo and DP World signed a R$2.5 billion agreement to construct a new grain and fertilizer terminal at the Port of Santos, expected to handle 9 million tonnes of grain and 3.5 million tonnes of fertilizer annually. Operations are set to begin in mid-2027, following environmental licensing and a 30-month construction phase starting in early 2025. The partnership will last at least 30 years, with Rumo overseeing commercial management and investment. This terminal expansion aligns with Rumo’s corridor expansion project and aims to prevent bottlenecks at Santos. DP World views it as crucial for cargo diversification, consolidating its position as Brazil’s largest multipurpose terminal operator.
