BRAZIL SOYBEANS SEE PROTEIN PREMIUMS GAIN GROUND AS QUALITY FOCUS GROWS

Brazil’s soybean market is placing greater value on protein, oil and amino acid content, signaling a shift beyond volume-based pricing. The trend mirrors established practices in the United States and Canada, where protein premiums can reach 15% under specific contracts. As quality metrics gain relevance, grain storage is becoming a key factor in preserving soybean value for the meal industry, where soybean meal accounts for 65% to 70% of protein used in poultry and swine feed formulations. Research shows that six months of inadequate storage can increase damaged grains by 58.4%, raise fermented grain levels by 14.5%, reduce protein content and increase weight losses. The shift is expected to strengthen demand for improved storage management and post-harvest quality control across the supply chain.
