BRAZIL AGRIBUSINESS POSTS 4.7% RISE IN ACTIVE COMPANIES

Brazil’s agribusiness sector expanded 4.7% year on year, adding more than 41,000 new businesses and reaching 909,897 active companies, according to IPC Maps. The Southeast remains the dominant hub, accounting for 773,495 firms, while the Center-West ranks second with 46,306 establishments, followed by the South (43,992), Northeast (31,291) and North (14,813). The country’s largest agribusiness markets continue to be São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Mato Grosso, Goiás, Rio Grande do Sul and Mato Grosso do Sul. Of the total active companies, 90,151 are registered as sole proprietorship microenterprises (MEIs), while 819,746 operate under other corporate structures, a segment typically associated with higher employment generation.
