BRAZIL SIGNS ON TO GLOBAL CLIMATE DEAL TO TRIPLE RENEWABLE ENERGY.

Brazil has committed to tripling global renewable energy by 2030 and phasing out coal, joining a pact supported by the EU, U.S., and UAE. With over 80% of its electricity already from renewables, Brazil supports the international effort, though tripling domestically may be impractical. The “Global Renewables and Energy Efficiency Targets Pledge” is expected to be officially adopted at the COP28 climate negotiations. Brazil, with just over 1% of electricity from coal, pledges to end new coal financing and aims to double the global annual rate of energy efficiency improvement to 4% until 2030, reinforcing its commitment to renewables.
