CARGO THROUGHPUT AT IMBITUBA PORT RISES 5.5% IN OCTOBER

In October, the Port of Imbituba recorded a 5.5% increase in cargo movement compared to the same period last year, totaling 567.3 thousand tons and serving 24 ships, mainly handling bulk solids and containers. In the year-to-date, over 6.3 million tons were moved by 246 vessels. Despite climatic challenges, the port maintained its growth throughout the year. The closure of the Barra do Rio Itajaí-açú boosted container operations, resulting in a 72.3% increase compared to the previous month. Exports accounted for 51.6% of the movement, with a focus on bulk solids such as petroleum coke, corn, and soybean meal. The port aims to achieve an annual record of 7.3 million tons by December, indicating a 2.5% growth compared to 2022.
