BRAZIL: ORANGE JUICE EXPORTS ON THE RISE

Brazilian exports of orange juice grew in this current 2022/23 season (from July/22 to October/22), mainly due to higher shipments to the United States. According to Secex, the volume shipped to the US (from July/22 to October/22) increased by 58% when compared to the same period in 2021/22, totaling 112.5 thousand tons. According to data from Cepea’s newsletter, revenue totaled USD 221.8 million, an increase of 91% in the same comparison. Cepea researchers indicate that the greater demand for juice from the US is linked to the intense reduction in orange production in Florida due to the greening and the recent climatic obstacles (hurricanes) in the state.
