BRAZIL AGRIBUSINESS POSTS RECORD Q1 EXPORTS, SURPLUS HITS $33BN

Brazil’s agribusiness exports reached $38.1 billion in Q1 2026 (+0.9% y/y), while imports fell to $5 billion (-3.3%), resulting in a record $33 billion surplus (+1.8%). Shipment volumes rose 3.8%, offset by a 2.8% drop in average prices amid weaker sugar, corn and soybean quotations. China remained the top destination at $11.3 billion (29.8%, +4.7%), followed by the EU ($5.67 billion) and the US ($2.24 billion, -31.2%). Soy complex ($12.1 billion, +11.5%) and animal protein ($8.1 billion, +21.8%) led exports. Beef shipments hit a record $3.98 billion (702kt), while pork reached $846 million (336kt). March exports totaled $15.4 billion, accounting for 48.8% of Brazil’s total, with a $13.5 billion surplus.
