Port of São Francisco do Sul signed an agreement with Sindiporto Brasil to install shore power infrastructure at Berth 103 to supply tugboats. The setup will allow tugs to connect to the grid during idle periods, cutting auxiliary engine use and emissions. The project carries an estimated BRL 900,000 investment, fully funded by Sindiporto, covering electrical systems, metering and technical upgrades. The initiative aligns with global port decarbonization practices and aims to improve operational efficiency without direct capex from the port authority. An energy tariff discount is under consideration to support early adoption.
