Alagoas’ 2025/26 sugarcane harvest closed at an estimated 17.8 million tonnes, up slightly from 17.4 million tonnes in the previous season, signaling stable output. The key shift was in the product mix: ethanol production rose over 16%, while sugar output dropped more than 12%, supported by stronger biofuel margins. The change underscores mills’ strategic pivot toward ethanol allocation. For the next season, the sector expects improved field conditions with better rainfall and ongoing investments, sustaining a more ethanol-focused production profile.
