VESSELS WAITING TIME IN PARANÁ PORTS DECREASED 46%

The Ports of Paraná reduced by 46% the average time that ships wait to dock at berth. In the first three months of 2018, a ship expected, on average, 185 hours from the arrival in the bay of Paranaguá until berthing. In 2019, this time was reduced to 99 hours. The stay for operation also became smaller. Last year, the average was 58 hours at the dock, 9% more than this year (52 hours). “This efficiency reduces the costs of exporters and importers and increases the advantages of doing business through the ports of Paranaguá and Antonina”, explains the president of the ports of Paraná, Luiz Fernando Garcia. The figures were released this week by the port administration statistics department. In relation to the movement, the balance sheet highlights a 10% increase in general cargo exports. Considering only the month of March, 955,143 tons of general cargo products were handled. An increase of 11% in comparison with the same period of 2018, when they were 861,018 tons. Exports alone accounted for 659,037 tons, up from 583,750 tons last year (up 12%). In the accumulated of 2019, there have already been almost 1.7 million tons of general cargo exported. In 2018, in the same quarter, just over 1.5 million tons were exported. GRANEIS – Soyabeans remain the main bulk handled via Paraná ports. In March, 1,178,618 tons were exported. In export, also appear the bran (626,495toneladas), corn (152,251) and sugar (102,751). In import, the highlight is the fertilizer: 542.329 tons. The State also received 105,495 tons of wheat and 29,311 tons of barley / malt.
