THE DOMESTIC CORN MARKET PAYS MORE THAN EXPORT PRICES IN RIO GRANDE DO SUL

The current price of corn in the domestic market is more profitable for producers than the export price in Rio Grande do Sul. The summer harvest has just begun, which has led to an increase in the supply of corn. As a result, the industry has been able to absorb the supply. Ceagro Corretora de Mercadorias in Porto Alegre reports that though there are export indications, the industry is offering better prices compared to the export market. CIF prices in Rio Grande are approximately BRL 4.00 to BRL 5.00 lower per bag. The industry is picking up the supply, while the export market is slow. According to Emater’s weekly bulletin, the summer corn harvest in RS has reached 5% of the area.
