TEGRAM ANNOUNCES R$1.6 BILLION INVESTMENT TO EXPAND AGRICULTURAL EXPORT CAPACITY

The consortium of the Grain Terminal of Maranhão (Tegram) plans to invest R$1.6 billion to increase its grain handling capacity in São Luís. The project will result in an additional 8.5 million tons per year, raising the total capacity to 23.5 million tons, up from the current 15 million tons. The third phase of the project is expected to be completed by the second half of 2026. With this expansion, it is expected that exports will generate an annual increase of R$18.3 billion starting in 2027, making Itaqui the primary grain exporter in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil. This initiative will also reinforce the shift in the logistical and port axis from the South-Southeast to the North and Northeast regions of the country. Additionally, the static storage capacity will increase from 500,000 to 856,800 tons in Phase 3.
