SUGARCANE CRUSHING SEES 2.24% DECREASE IN 2024-25 HARVEST

As of November 16, the 2024-25 sugarcane harvest was 582.61 million tons, a decrease of 2.24% from the previous cycle. The pace of crushing was hindered by rains and fewer mills operating; 65 units had already shut down, compared to 50 during the same period in 2023-2024. With a total ATR of 142.31 kg/ton (+1.22%), the raw material’s quality increased. Around 897.5 thousand tons of sugar were produced in the first half of November, which represents a 59.18% decrease. The harvest yielded 38.27 million tons (-3.04%). Corn ethanol rose 27.02%, resulting in a 4.5% increase in ethanol output to 29.92 billion liters.
