SUGAR PRODUCTION NEARLY DOUBLED IN BRAZIL’S CENTER-SOUTH IN THE LAST FORTNIGHT OF SEPTEMBER

The Center-South region of Brazil produced 3.36 million tons of sugar in the second half of September. This represents a 98.02% increase compared to the previous harvest. Overall, since April 1st, the region has produced a total of 32.62 million tons of sugar, which is a 23.77% increase. During the same two-week period, 2.22 billion liters (55.38%) of ethanol were produced, with the majority being hydrous ethanol, which increased by 88.69%. From the beginning of the agricultural cycle to October 1st, a total of 23.43 billion liters of ethanol were produced, an increase of 8.83%. In addition, corn accounted for 11% of overall ethanol production in the second half of September, an increase of 38.29% over the previous cycle. Corn ethanol output has increased by 44.21% since the start of the harvest.
