SUGAR PRODUCTION GROWS IN BRAZIL’S NORTH-NORTHEAST UP TO NOVEMBER 2023

In the period leading up to November 30, 2023, the North and Northeast of Brazil saw a growth of 7.2% in the volume of sugarcane processed by mills, reaching a total of 35 million tons. This surpasses the 32.7 million tons of sugarcane crushed in the same period of 2022-23. These results reveal that sugar production in the North and Northeast has increased significantly, with a 15.1% increase, resulting in a total of 1.8 million tons. This value is larger than the 1.6 million tons produced during the same harvest season in 2022-23. According to Renato Cunha, CEO of NovaBio, this increase in output may be attributed to increasing sugar demand on the worldwide market, as well as favorable climate conditions.
