STRONG DEMAND BOOSTS BRAZIL’S MANUFACTURING GROWTH IN MARCH

In March, the Brazilian manufacturing sector continued to expand, albeit at a slower pace, as robust demand drove growth, according to the PMI. The index stood at 53.6, down from February’s 54.1, but still indicating growth. Production and employment were positively influenced. New orders, particularly for capital goods, grew. Although foreign sales have declined, the rate of decline has slowed. Input and production costs have risen slightly, while prices charged have decreased. Optimism persists, as investment and plant openings are planned, reflecting confidence in future production.
