COPERSUCAR OBTAINS 50% OF COMERC’S TRADING COMPANY AND BOOSTS ENERGY SALES

A joint venture between Copersucar and Comerc Energia aims to trade power on the open market. Copersucar has purchased a 50% share in Comerc group trading firm NewCom. With an emphasis on the free energy market, the new business will function independently and enable Copersucar to sell energy generated by its 37 affiliated facilities. NewCom’s sales reached BRL 431 million in 2023, indicating that the company is on track to double its size and rank among the top 10 largest independent energy sellers in Brazil. Copersucar’s dedication to sustainable energy sources is reaffirmed by this agreement. The transaction is still pending CADE’s clearance.
