SECOND-CROP CORN HARVEST ADVANCES TO 11,3% OF THE AREA IN MATO GROSSO.

Mato Grosso’s 2025/26 second corn harvest reached 11.29% of the planted area by mid June, advancing more than 5 percentage points week on week and exceeding the 7% pace recorded a year earlier, according to Imea. Harvest progress is approaching the five year average, supported by favorable weather. Planted area remains estimated at 7.39 million hectares, with yield projected at 120.28 bags per hectare and production at 53.35 million metric tons. For the 2026/27 cycle, production costs are expected to increase. Crop cost estimates rose 14.46% year on year to R$3,799.42/ha, while effective operating costs climbed 15.03% to R$5,528.49/ha. Based on projected yields, producers require a corn price of at least R$45.96 per bag to cover operating costs. Market participants are also monitoring El Niño risks to planting windows for the next safrinha crop.
