São Paulo’s agribusiness posted a US$8.37 billion trade surplus between January and May 2026, with exports reaching US$10.85 billion against imports of US$2.48 billion. Export value declined 3.2% year on year, but shipment volumes increased 5.2%, indicating stronger physical trade despite weaker commodity prices. The sugar and ethanol complex led exports with US$2.3 billion, followed by meat (US$1.8 billion), soybeans (US$1.05 billion), forestry products (US$1.4 billion) and orange juice (US$813.2 million). Meat, soy and forestry exports recorded annual gains of 20.1%, 17.4% and 12.7%, respectively, while juice, sugar and coffee exports declined. China remained the largest market, accounting for 27.8% of shipments. São Paulo ranked as Brazil’s second largest agricultural exporting state, holding a 15.4% share of national agribusiness exports.
