SAO PAULO TO PRODUCE 4.8 MILLION TONS OF SOYBEAN AND 4.5 MILLION TONS OF CORN IN 2022-23

According to the Agricultural Economy Institute (IEA-Apta), the State of Sao Paulo is expected to produce 4.8 million tons of soybeans in the 2022/23 harvest, a 6.6% increase over the 2021/22 cycle. The harvested area should increase by 2.2% to 1.29 million hectares. Summer corn harvest declined 10.7% to 2.051 million tons in 2022/23, owing to a considerable decrease in planted area, which fell 9.7% to 300.9 thousand hectares. In terms of winter corn, the planted area will decrease by 2.9% to 471.8 thousand hectares, but productivity will be 18.6% higher than in 2021/22, at 5,349 kg per hectare, resulting in a yield of 2.5 million tons, or 15.2% higher.
