RIO GRANDE DO SUL POSTS 87% WHEAT PLANTING AS SOWING NEARS COMPLETION

Wheat planting in Rio Grande do Sul reached 87% of the projected 814,220 hectares, with average yields forecast at 2.701 tonnes per hectare, according to Emater/RS. Sowing is close to completion across most producing areas, with fieldwork continuing only in higher altitude regions. Crop establishment remains satisfactory, but excessive moisture has slowed field operations, delaying nitrogen topdressing and herbicide applications while increasing the risk of foliar diseases. The report also indicates solid crop conditions for white oats, canola and barley, although persistent cloud cover and limited solar radiation have temporarily constrained vegetative growth.
