PARANAGUÁ PORT POSTS 63% RAIL THROUGHPUT GAIN WITH MOEGÃO PROJECT

Paranaguá Port’s Moegão project has reached 95% completion, marking the final stage of a BRL 650 million investment to expand grain export logistics. Once operational, the system will lift rail receiving capacity by 63%, increasing daily unloading from 550 to 900 railcars. Annual rail throughput of grains and meals is expected to rise to 24 million tonnes from just over 5 million tonnes. The centralized unloading facility will serve 11 export terminals, reducing shunting operations, cutting level crossings from 16 to five and easing road congestion in the port area. Rail track works are scheduled for completion by the end of July.
