RICE: BRAZILIAN 2022/23 CROP PROJECTED BY THE USDA AT 7.222 MILLION TONNES

The processed rice crop in Brazil in the 2022/23 marketing season (starting in April 2023) was estimated at 7.222 million tons, according to the Gain Report of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). In the previous season, there were 7.3 million tons. Processed rice imports from the country were forecast at 1.100 million tons in 2022/23, compared to 1.300 million in the previous season. At the beginning of 2022/23, processed rice stocks were estimated at 770 thousand tons. Closing stocks are estimated at 542 thousand tons. The planted area should decrease from 1.62 to 1.53 million hectares in the 2022/23 marketing year. Processed consumption should remain at 7.2 million tons in 2022/23, compared to 7.25 million in the previous season.
