RAIZEN CONFIRMS PLAN TO START BIOGAS PLANT IN 2023

Raízen presented on Tuesday (23) the area where the first biogas production plant in Piracicaba (SP) is being built, with a capacity for 26 million cubic meters per year of renewable natural gas. The investments will be of BRL 300 million in an area of 300 thousand square meters, whose production is already fully sold in advance to Volkswagen and Yara. According to the agro-industrial director at Raízen, Thaís Fornícola, the unit is likely to start operating in 2023. She said that it is part of the company’s project to expand the cycle of renewable products derived from sugarcane. Biomethane has the potential to reduce direct greenhouse gas emissions by more than 90% when compared to fossil fuels.
