PORTS OF SÃO FRANCISCO AND ITAPOÁ AUTHORIZED TO RECEIVE LARGER VESSELS

The São Francisco do Sul Port Complex has been authorized to receive vessels with a width of up to 51 meters. The permission, which takes effect next week, benefits the ports of São Francisco and Itapoá. Until now, the maximum width allowed in the complex was 49 meters. “This achievement is just the beginning: after obtaining authorization for the berthing of vessels of this size, our next step is to make the dredging project for deepening the access channel viable, putting the port complex in ideal conditions to receive ships of 366 meters in length,” said Pablo Fonseca, Director of Operations and Logistics at the São Francisco Port. Fonseca expects the dredging, costing R$290 million, to begin in 2024.
